Welcome to the David Ellis Academy – Detroit website! The Board of Directors and DEA-Detroit family take great pride in leading our brilliant students on a journey that will chart their course for educational excellence and lifelong learning. There is a Chinese proverb that states, “Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand.” Thus, we have the daunting yet attainable challenge in this bleak economic climate, where unemployment and hopelessness reigns, to successfully prepare each child for lifelong academic, social, and professional growth.

Our passion is strengthened as we positively stay the course and continue seeking out reforms that will make a difference in our children's lives and help them become job-ready, productive citizens. It is the vision of this institution to continue setting high standards as we continue to nurture, mentor, and teach our children to evolve into self-directed individuals and future leaders of tomorrow, taking ownership in their learning. Finally, we look forward to working with the community, our parents, guardians, and partners to bring this vision to fruition.
