Parent Engagement

We believe that parental support is a crucial component of running a successful school, and we appreciate the support and involvement of caring parents and guardians. At DEA, we urge you as parents to play an encouraging role in your child’s education by asking your child questions about school, helping with homework, and becoming familiar with classroom goals. Take some time to get to know your child’s teacher and find out what you can do to foster your child’s success outside the classroom. We also encourage you to:

  • Check PowerSchool regularly to monitor your child’s progress.
  • Make sure your child receives adequate rest each night.
  • Provide your child with a balanced breakfast.
  • Ensure that your child reports to school on time with proper supplies and a clean uniform.
  • Give your child plenty of time and space to complete homework and to study.
  • Keep abreast of quarterly report card dates, and attend parent/teacher conferences.

Volunteer Opportunities

We encourage all parents to join the Parent Support Group and attend these informative and productive meetings. Anyone with a child enrolled in school may attend and/or run for office.

As stated in your child’s application packet, we expect parents/guardians to donate a minimum of 20 hours of volunteer time each school year. Below is a list of volunteer opportunities. This list is not all-inclusive, so if you have an idea for an event or activity not listed here, we welcome your suggestions. Please remember that you must sign in/out at the main office before reporting for any volunteer activities during school hours.
